Procession of the Immaculate Conception
On December 8, Nicotera Marina gathers around one of its oldest and most evocative rituals. After Holy Mass, the statue of the Immaculate Conception leaves the church carried on the shoulders of bearers, slowly crossing the streets of the seaside village amid songs, prayers, and the scent of the sea.
It is a moment of authentic devotion, in which faith and community intertwine. But it is on the seafront that the magic happens: here, the statue is handed over to the fishermen, guardians of tradition. With ancient gestures, they accompany it to their boats and, once at sea, the procession continues suspended between water and sky. Folk songs, religious hymns, the music of the festival, the sound of footsteps, the sea embracing the ritual: a unique experience that excites and unites.
